Traditional Lights vs. Permanent Lights
Same holiday glow. None of the ladders, tangles, or January takedowns.

How permanent lighting works
Permanent Christmas lights are smart LED lights mounted permanently along your roofline, so your home is ready for Christmas, Halloween, the Fourth of July, game days, and every night in between. Green Thumb Outdoor Solutions designs and installs permanent holiday lighting for homes across Des Moines, Ankeny, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Johnston, Clive, Waukee, and the surrounding metro. The lights are included in every install. We measure your roofline, mount everything cleanly, set up the app on your phone, and walk you through it before we leave. After that, you never climb a ladder for holiday lights again. Call (515) 461-8107 for a free quote.
Traditional Christmas lights mean ladders in November, icy takedowns in January, and strands that fail every year. Permanent lighting is installed once, is weatherproof-rated for Iowa winters, and works year-round: warm white for everyday curb appeal and security, full color for every holiday and celebration.

Permanent Christmas Lights FAQ — Des Moines, IA
How much do permanent Christmas lights cost in Des Moines?
Every home is quoted individually based on roofline footage, number of peaks and stories, and the areas you want lit. The lights are included in our installed price. Call (515) 461-8107 or request a free quote and we'll give you a clear, upfront number.
Do permanent lights hold up to Iowa winters?
Yes. The lights we install are waterproof-rated for year-round outdoor use and built to handle rain, snow, heat, and below-zero cold. The LEDs are rated for up to 50,000 hours and carry a 3-year manufacturer warranty.
Can you see permanent lights during the day?
They're designed to be low-profile. The lights mount along your roofline and blend in during the day, so your home looks clean all year, not decorated.
How do I control the lights?
From an app on your phone, or by voice with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can change colors, pick holiday scenes and animations, adjust brightness, and set schedules so they turn on at dusk automatically. Your home Wi-Fi needs to reach the front of the house.
Can I use them for more than Christmas?
That's the best part. Use full color for Halloween, the Fourth of July, Valentine's Day, game days, and birthdays, then switch to warm white for everyday curb appeal and security lighting.
Do you still install traditional Christmas lights?
Yes. If you'd rather have classic seasonal lights, we install those too, and takedown is available as an add-on.
